Renna - the strait and islets on the landward side

The waters on the landward side of Jomfruland are named Renna, literally "the Gutter". Several islets mix in, with a consentration by Aasvik (at the grocery). Especially during winter and in the migration periods, large amounts of waterfowl can be spotted in Renna and between the scattered islets. These are most conveniently viewed from land, of course, making a good spotting scope something of a must.

Recommended seasons: autumn, winter and spring

Typical species: waterfowl (Red-throated and Black-throated Diver, Red-necked Grebe, Scoters, Common Goldeneye, Red-Breasted Merganser, Black Guillemot, etc)

Recommended watchpoints: the best view is gained from the pier at the Hovedgården, from the dirt road near Hagane, and from Aasvik (at the grocery/southern ferry quay).
